history > Ever since I began webdesigning in 2000, I'd wished for my very own domain and space. I utilized the free, ad-less hosts that I could find, but then advertising on the Internet became a huge thing and I was left host-less. Thankfully, I got my blog hosted by Amy (who was a wonderful host), but I still couldn't find a home for all my other sites. I found some temporary solace at a domain that my sister's friend helped her get, but then they lost touch and the sites were lost. Finally, for my sixteenth birthday, I decided to ask my parents for my own domain. Thankfully, they agreed, and here I am today!

name > "Kaleidica" is really just a made-up word. I'd really wanted something like kaleidoscope.net or kaleido-scope.org, but everything I could think of was taken, and I wanted a short, simple one so I couldn't exactly add other words to it. So I took the first part of "kaleidoscope"--kaleido (derived from the root "kalos" which means beautiful)--and replaced the 'o' with an "ica", because I've always like that suffix-like...thing. Oh, and the word conveniently has "Lei" (my online alias) in it. Pronounced ka·lei·di-ca. (ka-'LI-di-ka).

tools > Nothing fancy; I'm a simple girl. I manually code everything in HTML, PHP, and CSS on Notepad. For graphics, I use Adobe Photoshop CS2 and Adobe ImageReady. Everything is uploaded by FTP via FireZilla.
