My boy and I work so well together because when we criticize each other, we both take that criticism to heart and work hard at trying to improve ourselves for each other. ♥

Green Light – John Legend
Wake It Up – E-40
Addicted – Enrique Iglesias
Don’t Panic – Coldplay

music: Bend to Squares – Death Cab for Cutie

i wish the world was flat like the old days
then i could travel just by folding a map
no more airplanes, or speed trains, or freeways
there’d be no distance that could hold us back

- “The New Year”, Death Cab for Cutie

I had a fantastic Spring Break. I didn’t do anything wild, but I got to see all the people that I love most in the world, and I was very productive yet very relaxed, and it was just simply wonderful.

Mark and I headed home on March 20th. Even though we left an hour and a half before our flight’s departure time, we ended up getting there with only 25 minutes before the schedule takeoff time. It was bizarre. I ended up arguing with the check-in counter lady about whether it was 5:00 or 6:00 and felt like a complete idiot when I took out my cell phone to prove that I was right only to realize that I was being a total dumbass. I made my exit quickly, haha.

When we got back to Irvine, Mag and Kelly called me right as they got my text, and they were all excited and stuff. That made me really happy. Mark’s mom dropped me off at home, and then I took Jess to Lee’s sandwiches for dinner, which was good, of course. Being at home was amazing

Had to get up the next day at frickin 7 to drop Jess off at the Jazz Festival at school to volunteer. Then, I just enjoyed having the house to myself (my parents were out of town). At around noon, I picked up Alex and Mark, and then we went to In-N-Out and met up with Ben, Tiffany, Kelly, and Kristina. Jeff was working there, too, so it was just like all these high school people in one busy room, haha. Lunch was fun; I’ve been so starved for real social contact that I kept being startled every time I would tell a story to one person and everyone would start listening and being interested in what I had to say. That used to be the norm for me–in fact it used to be a huge part of my life–but up here, I usually just tell Mark my thoughts quietly while his friends interact or something.

After lunch, we went to the Jazz Festival and chilled for a while just reuniting with people and talking to people and all this awesome stuff. It always feels so good to go back to high school, because everyone is always so excited to see you, haha. We watched some combos and then I took Mark and Jess home because they were so bored, LOL. Wow, fail. Then, I joined Alex in the theater to watch the Heavy big bands play. I always love watching good musicians play. After the performances were over, Alex and I helped everyone clean up and finished really early. Dropped Alex off at his house and then went home for a bit. Then, Mark picked Ben and me up, and we went to Denny’s to have dinner and chill. We also got dessert–Mochilato, mmm. That was a lot of fun. I do love hanging out with the two of them. Of course Mark and Ben are close, and Mark and I are obviously close, but I never feel like a third wheel, and I don’t think that Ben does, either. It’s a good dynamic, and just very enjoyable.

The next day, I took Jess out to lunch, ran some errands and did some shopping, and then got to hang out with Diana before she left on her roadtrip. We got Japanese food for dinner (salmon teriyaki and nabeyaki udon) and then had some yummy gelato. Then, we watched the first half of Wonder Woman and then I helped her pack. It was so nice how she kept telling me how much she loves me. I left her place in good spirits.

The next day, I went to lunch with Mag and Kelly. Kelly picked me up and then we went to TMP to eat at Thai Spice and got to use a coupon, yay! I love coupons. We went to the TMP theater to watch Slumdog Millionaire, but this really bitchy lady prevented us from getting in. She carded Maggie, who is eighteen but hasn’t gotten her driver’s license yet. Mag showed her lady her college ID, but she wouldn’t accept it, even though the college is IN OUR TOWN LOL. I tried buying a ticket for myself, and showed her my driver’s license, but she still wouldn’t take it for some reason. Then she started bitching at us unnecessarily! We were checking out the other movies that were playing, and she was all snapping, “You’d better not buy tickets for something and then go see something else instead, because we’ll catch you, you know,” and all this stuff. And we were like… LOL, we hadn’t even thought of that, hahaha. And then she just kept being unnecessarily mean to us, which was really annoying. Finally, we were like fuck it, and just decided to go to Spectrum instead, where they don’t card you at all. Bought Mag’s ticket at the Fandango machine and got Kelly and my tickets (without being carded) and finally got to see the damn movie.

Slumdog was very, very well done, wow. I loved the filming style and the storyboarding and how it was very educational. I really liked the story and how it was told in flashbacks, too. Definitely took advantage of film while maintaining a bookish feel (kudos to author Vikas Swarup for his Q&A). And an added plus, Freida Pinto is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. After seeing her, I felt the urge to give Rhint, one of my original characters for my Novel dark skin rather than the alabaster that I’d planned on. What a beautiful woman.

More about the rest of Spring Break later!

music: Swagger Like Us – T.I. (feat. Kanye West, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne)

I actually have things that are remarkable enough to blog about! Okay, not really, but I’m tired of working on my essay and feel like unloading my thoughts.

Earlier this week, I burned my arm as I was making instant noodles. That’s right, INSTANT NOODLES. I was boiling water in my little cooking pot thing and then reached for my scissors… And BAM, the steam that hit my arm was a lot hotter than I’d expected, and before I knew it, this random spot on the underside of my arm started growing really red and hurting like fuck. I have a pretty high pain tolerance, but I have to admit that it stung pretty bad. I still have this big burn mark on my arm days later, and it’s slowly peeling. It looks pretty freaky; Mark keeps forgetting what it is and asking me what happened even though I’ve explained it to him at least three times already, haha.

Today, I woke up late, got dressed in a flash and dashed out the door, lost my eyeliner on the way to the bus stop, made the split-second decision to look for the eyeliner on the ground ($17 value!) and risk missing the bus, found the eyeliner, turned around just as the bus left the stop, and marched to my class on the other side of campus, 20 min. away. That was not fun.

Twenty minutes ago, I finished my 6-7 page English paper that’s due tomorrow. I’m so proud; I actually finished an essay before midnight! It’s definitely ’cause I started working on it two days ago. I’m really proud of how I much faster I work nowadays. I’ve never been a procrastinator, but that’s essentially because if I did procrastinate, then I’d never finish anything. I tend to take FOREVER getting stuff done, haha, from eating to writing a paper. I remember in high school, I would spend like twelve hours writing an OUTLINE for an essay. How ridiculous is that! Thank god I’ve improved since then, haha. I aspire to write at the speed of Mag and Alex, who whip up things last minute like whoa. Mark may procrastinate like whoa, but at least he pays the price by staying up late!
