Summary: The story about the love of my life. The absolute truth. Written from the bottom of my heart.

elaine loved michael she really really did and when he went to a different high schoool it was the longest she had been away from him for five years ever since they'd first met in fourth grade oh how she remembered fourth grade everyone four feet and summat and he had been best friends with good ol' mytchel back then and he had been the worst secret-keeper in the grade but everyone liked telling him things anyway because it was fourth grade and fourth graders are fucked up like that

and in fifth grade they made a class yearbook and he was on the team and she was too but she hated him because he was yucky and ugly and the most annoying boy in the world she thought but now that she looks back on it she thinks that he was the most adorablest little boy in the whole wide world but that was then and this is now he would talk to her a lot to bother her and she would yell at him because he was just so annoying that boy and now she wishes that he still liked annoying her 'cause wouldn't that be great and in sixth grade they stopped talking because it was junior high and he and mytchel split and then he was best friends with victor and oh no it wasn't proper to talk to middle class girls so he only talked to her a little not a lot and she didn't notice because she was all over kyle and really who wants to think about some stupid icky annoying boy when there's kyle who was equally as stupid icky annoying but he was much more beautiful than some tiny asian wannabe kid

and then seventh grade came and oh no she got ASSIGNED to sit next to him and eww who wants to sit by him but then he talked to her and she talked to him and maybe she likes him because she begins to feel tiny butterflies in her stomach when she sits down and why are they called butterflies anyway she doesnt even like butterflies so maybe they're not butterflies and then she is shocked and breathless because she finds out that he likes anime and somehow her silly seventh grade self thinks that this is the awesomest thing in the whole wide world and she is giddy when he touches her hand and she feels her fingers tingling for the rest of the week and they talk again and she is happy and naive and she wishes it could've stayed that way but it didn't and now it's too late

then it is eighth grade already and she doesn't worry about it being their last year together because she doesn't really want to think about it and she thinks surely she is not pathetic enough to like him for that long but she is wrong so wrong and she knows now but its too late too late too late and they are only in two classes together and she is so disappointed but now she wonders why because being in two classes with him is so much better than the prospect of never seeing him again but oh eighth grade is so full of drama and she can't stand it first the whole school finds out about her silly little obsession and she is so ashamed and furious with maggie even though she smiles waveringly and says it's 'kay but it isn't because she can't even stare at him anymore because she is so embarassed about it and she kinda sorta wishes that she'd never told her friends she didn't know they wouldn't be able to keep a secret like that and if only she had known how far they would go to get attention and this incident is a warning but she is ignorant and that is why when she and maggie fell apart she is so unprepared then she gets this story that maggie told everyone again and she is so livid with anger but she keeps it inside because that's what she does and then later they tell her that now michael and victor hate her and she is devastated but she doesn't really believe it <s>because who would hate HER</s> she doesn't want michael to really hate her because even though she says he does all the time she is only lying to keep herself from landing on the ground too hard when everything falls apart and she is still so naive she is incensed at maggie too and she can't stand it and she cries a lot too much but nobody thought it was anything out of ordinary because that's what she does right

and then it's may and the flashback dance and she realizes that she has the best friends in the world because they convinced him to slow dance with her and she is THE HAPPIEST GIRL IN THE WORLD really she is and she memorized every part of that evening because it goes down as the happiest moment of her life and anyone who disagrees she disagrees with because they are wrong she knows every moment speech feeling and after that she is different because she realizes that maybe dreams can come true and she smiles

and then it's time to graduate and leave plaza vista forever and she cries harder than she has ever cried in her entire life because michael is leaving and he is her world and NOTHING will ever be the same ever again and she loves him the most that she has ever loved him ever ever because he hugged her twice and that is a gift she will treasure for the rest of her lifetime and now she has a picture of the two of them together and it is on her desk pretty always now but it is not the happiest day of her life because it is joy and grief at the same time and she is pained and it hurts and now he is so close but so far and she hasn't seen him for three months and it is killing her really her friends laugh and scoff and tell her it's silly stupid just a meaningless crush and she is angry beyond belief because she thought they were her friends if she wanted to hear that kind of stuff she would just listen to her own pessimistic self she doesn't listen to them and their pettiness they think she's just a stupid teenager and she loathes them for it but she smiles and doesn't want to talk about it because she loves them she really does but sometimes michael means much more to her than them at least michael never insults her like that to her face with no consideration maybe if they were her they could understand more but she isn't too hopeful because friends are never really there when you need them the most michael is her sun her stars her midnight sky and she feels so empty without him but nobody really cares and it's okay because only she knows and

she is crying now, thinking about him, because really, he's the only one she truly wants no matter what she says and she won't even mind if he doesn't ever like her back she just wants to see him just a tiny glimpse but it won't happen because it never does things are just like that and it hurts and she hopes that tonight she won’t dream about seeing him and then wake up in the morning with tears running down her cheek.
